Developed as part of the UPQC project of the DLR Quantum Computing Initiative (DLR QCI), funded by the German Federal Minister of Research, Technology and Space.
For years, photonic quantum computing faced a fundamental divide: near-term systems could be deployed but were not built to scale toward universality, while universal approaches often remained confined to specialized laboratory environments.
With Carina, QuiX Quantum has chosen the more demanding path: building a room-temperature, deployable photonic quantum computer that brings the core building blocks of universal quantum computing into one integrated system.

Carina combines photon generation, integrated photonic processing, high-speed switching, cluster-state generation, detection and fast feed-forward control. By bringing these technologies together in a customer environment, Carina is set to mark a critical milestone on the path toward scalable, fault-tolerant photonic quantum computing.
